Last Tuesday, after doing all the family shopping in town, I wanted to have a rest before catching the train. So I bought a newspaper and some chocolate and went into a station coffee shop with long tables to sit at. I put my heavy bag down on the floor, put the newspaper and chocolate on the table to keep a place, and went to get a cup of coffee.
When I came back with my coffee, there was someone sitting near to me. It was one of those strange-looking young men, with dark glasses, torn clothes, and long hair. But I wasn't surprised at such a young man. What surprised me most was that he had started to eat my chocolate!
I was rather uneasy about him, but I didn't want to get into trouble. I just looked down at the front page of the newspaper and took a bit of chocolate. The boy looked at me. Then he took a second piece of my chocolate. I could hardly believe it. Still I didn't say anything. When he took a third one, I felt more angry than uneasy. I thought, "Well, I shall have the last piece." And I got it.
The boy gave me a strange look and then stood up. As he left, he shouted out, "This woman is crazy!" Everyone looked at me. That was embarrassing(令人難堪) enough. But it was worse when I finished my coffee and ready to leave. It wasn't my chocolate I had eaten a moment before. Mine was just under my newspaper.

Some people make you feel comfortable when they are around. You spend an hour with them and feel as if you have known them half your life. These people have something in common. And once we know what it is, we can try to do it ourselves.
How is it done? Here are several skills that good talkers have. If you follow the skills, they’ll help people feel relaxed and make friends with them quickly.
First of all, good talkers ask questions. Almost anyone, no matter how shy he is, will answer a question. One well-known businesswoman says, “At business lunches, I always ask people what they did that morning. It’s a common question, but it will get things going.” From there you can move on to other matters—sometimes to really personal questions. And how he answers will let you know how far you can go.
Second, once good talkers have asked questions, they listen to the answers. This point seems clear, but it isn’t. Your questions should have a point and help to tell what type of person you are talking to. And to find out, you really have to listen carefully and attentively. Real listening at least means some things. First it means not to change the subject of conversation. If someone sticks to one topic, you can take it as a fact that he’s really interested in it. Real listening also means not just listening to words, but to tones of voice. If the voice sounds dull, then, it’s time for you to change the subject.
Finally, good talkers know well how to deal with the moment of saying goodbye. If you’re saying good-bye, you may give him a firm handshake and say, “I’ve really enjoyed meeting you.” If you want to see that person again, don’t keep it a secret. Let people know what you feel, and they may walk away feeling as if they’ve known you half their life.
1.Asking questions might be a quite good and suitable way _______.
A. for you to make new friends
B. to begin your business talks
C. to get the conversation going smoothly
D. for you to impress others with your questions
2.After having asked somebody a question, it’ll be polite of you to _______.
A. make clear what kind of person he is
B. listen to his or her reply carefully
C. sit quietly without saying anything
D. go on asking him more questions
3. Generally speaking, good talkers are persons who _______.
A. know how to change the topic properly
B. are good at making any topic interesting
C. always speak in a gentle way
D. never talk too much or too little
4. If you really want to meet someone again, _______.
A. you may take him as your lifelong true friend
B. it seems necessary for you to let him know it
C. you are sure to have further understanding of him
D. it’s proper for you to give him a second handshake

When someone walks into a room wearing bright colours, everyone seems to take notice. Beautiful bright colours can easily draw our attention. Fresh roses can cheer us up when we’re feeling blue. Dressing up in colourful clothing can bring us into a more positive mood.
What shall I wear today? What colour should I choose?
Dressing yourself for the day is quite important whether you know it or not. Our moods often show what our bodies end up wearing. When you look in the mirror after you dress, train yourself to notice how you feel when you see yourself. Notice your mood. If you are not feeling yourself, could the colour of what you are wearing irritate (使不適) your nervous system? Did you never notice that before? We all know that dark colours can tell lies. They can make you look and feel older than you really are. That is why baby clothes never come in dark colours. To the mind, dark colours seem easier to hold power, but to the heart and feeling level, they don’t help your heart to open. Bring happy colours and happiness to go hand in hand. Bright happy colours open your heart, calming your nervous system.
Some advice:
If you work around people who wear black, try to find a happy colour to look at to replace (取代) the picture of dark colours in your mind.
At night, wear soft clothes in light colours to help your nervous system calm down and smooth it out, preparing yourself for sleep.
Don’t dress children in dark colours because their nervous systems are just beginning to feel.
1.What kind of colours can easily draw our attention?
A. All of the colours. B. Dark colours.

A. Black. B. Green. C. Yellow. D. Red.
3.What does the underlined word “They” refer to?
A. Some lies. B. Baby clothes.
