The car was invented more than a century (世紀(jì))ago. You may know all kinds of cars’ names,but you may not know who was the inventor of the first car.
The first car was not invented by an Englishman,but by an American whose name was Henry Ford.
Henry was bom in a poor family. He was the eldest of the six children. When he was a boy,he became interested in watches and machines. Then his mother died when he was twelve years old. So he had to work in a machine shop for two dollars and fifty cents(美分)a week,and another dollar a week for repairing watches in the evenings. The hard life made him strong and cap-able(有能力的).
At that time there was a dream in the life of young Ford. He wished to make a machine. Since this machine could run without horses,it was named a “ horseless carriage (馬車(chē))”.He overcame (克服)a lot of difficulties,and in April 1893,the “horseless carriage” was invented at last. It was the first car.
Later Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company (公司). He is always a great man in the world who has changed our lives.
