People celebrate（慶祝）birthdays in almost every country on the earth. And they celebrate them in many different （不同的）ways.

In Brazil（巴西）, the special（特別的）birthday food aren’t birthday cakes, but special candies. In China, we eat noodles for a long life. And some people eat eggs for good luck. In Iceland（冰島）, people have pancakes with candies inside them on their birthdays. In Holland（荷蘭）, children not only get presents, but also give things out. They give cakes, cookies and candies to their classmates and teachers on their birthdays.

In many countries, birthday customs（風(fēng)俗習(xí)慣）are changing（改變）. Lots of people have western style（西方形式）birthdays and eat birthday cakes. But one thing is never changed---the birthday is a special day for everyone!
