3.A
When I was about 12,I had an"enemy",a girl who liked to point out my shortcomings (缺點(diǎn)).Sometimes she said I was thin.Sometimes she said I was lazy.Sometimes she said I wasn't a good student.Sometimes she said I talked too much, and so on.I tried to put up with (忍受) her as long as I could. At last,I became very angry.I ran to my father with tears in my eyes.
He listened to me quietly, and then he asked,"Are the things she said true or not?Mary, didn't you ever wonder what you're really like?Go and make a list of everything she said and mark the points that are true.Pay no attention to the other things she said."
I did as he told me and to my surprise,I discovered that about half the things were true.
I brought the list back to my dad.He refused to take it."That's just for you,"he said."You know better than anyone else the truth about yourself. When something said about you is true, you'll find it will be helpful to you.Don't shut your ears.Listen to them all,but hear the truth and do what you think is right."

Sometimes she said I talked too much, and so on.I tried to put up with (忍受) her as long as I could. At last,I became very angry.
He listened to me quietly,and then he asked,Are the things she said true or not?Mary,didn't you ever wonder what you're really like?Go and make a list of everything she said and mark the points that are true.Pay no attention to the other things she said.
Many years have passed.The situation often appears in my mind.In our life we often meet with some trouble and we often go to someone and ask for advice.For some advice you will treasure(珍惜) all your life!
59.A 主旨?xì)w納題.根據(jù)整篇文章內(nèi)容及其倒數(shù)第二段句子he said."You know better than anyone else the truth about yourself. When something said about you is true, you'll find it will be helpful to you.Don't shut your ears.Listen to them all,but hear the truth and do what you think is right."

8.Every year thousands of tourists visit Pompeii,Italy. They see the sights that Pompeii is famous for its stadium(運(yùn)動(dòng)場(chǎng)) and theatres, its shops and restaurants. The tourists do not, however, see Pompeii's people. They do not see them because Pompeii has no people. No one has lived in Pompeii for almost 2,000 years.
Once,Pompeii was a busy city of 22,000 people. It lay at the foot of Mount Vesuvius,a grass-covered volcano.Mount Vesuvius had not erupted(噴發(fā)) for centuries,so the people of Pompeii felt safe. But they were not.
In August of AD 79,Mount Vesuvius erupted. The entire top of the mountain exploded(爆炸),and a huge black cloud rose into the air.Soon stones and hot ash(灰燼) began to fall on Pompeii. When the eruption ended two days later,Pompeii was buried under 20 feet of stones and ashes.Almost all of its people were dead.
For centuries,Pompeii lay buried under stones and ashes. Then,in the year 1861,an Italian scientist named Ginseppe began to uncover Pompeii.Slowly, carefully,Ginseppe and his men dug.The city looked almost the same as it had looked in AD 79.There were streets and fountains(噴泉),houses and shops. There was a stadium with 20,000 seats.Perhaps the most important of all, there were everyday objects, which told us a great deal about the people who lived in Pompeii. Many glasses and jars had some dark blue color in the bottom,so we know that the people of Pompeii liked wine. They liked bread, too;metal bread pans were in every bakery(面包店).In one bakery there were 81 round, flat loaves of bread-a type of bread that is still sold in Italy today.Tiny boxes filled with dark, shiny powder tell(粉末) us that women liked to wear eye make-up.
Ginseppe has died, but his work continues.One-fourth has not been uncovered yet.Scientists are still digging, still making discoveries that draw the tourists to Pompeii.

45.Why do large number of people come to Pompeii each year?D
A.To visit the volcano.
B.To shop and eat there.
C.To watch sports and plays.
D.To see how Pompeiians lived.
46.Why had so many Pompeiians remained by volcanic Mount Vesuvius?C
A.The city nearby offered all kinds of fun.
B.The area produced the finest wine in Italy.
C.Few people expected the volcano to erupt again.
D.The mountain was beautiful and covered with grass.
47.Why did the city uncovered look almost the same as it had looked in AD 79?B
A.Because Ginseppe and his men dug it slowly and carefully.
B.Because the city was buried alive and remained untouched.
C.Because scientists successfully rebuilt the city with everyday objects.
D.Because nobody had lived in the city ever since the volcano erupted.
48.What do we know about the Pompeiians who lived 2,000 years ago?A
A.They lived more or less the same as Italians now do.
B.They liked women wearing all kinds of make-ups.
