As a child, you might be saying, “I am just kid! I shouldn't have to work!” Yes, you probably don't have to, but here are some reasons why you may want to work in your spare time.
Working is learning. By working to earn your own money, you will be learning skills you need to succeed in the future. These skills can include things like dealing with money, understanding what customers want and need, getting along with people, using tools and technology, using your time and materials wisely and many more.
Money gives you choices. If you want to see a movie, play great video game, or eat out with your friends, you will need money to do it. When your allowance runs out, does the fun run out, too? With your own extra money, it doesn't have to. Since the money is earned by you, parents generally allow you to spend it as you choose.
Independence is a great feeling. Some people think that asking for money is a lot easier than earning it. But when you make your own money, you needn't ask someone else to give you financial help. There is nothing like the proud feeling of taking your own money to the bank or store.
It beats being bored. Sometimes you may be bored sitting at home with nothing to do. Well, how about coming up with a plan to earn some money? That can be a great way to break through the boredom. By using your brain and your body to do jobs and make money, you will have a good time and feel that life is very interesting!

Not all memories are sweet. Some people spend all their lives trying to forget bad experiences. Different accidents can leave people with terrible wounds both in body and mind. Often they recall these experiences in their awful dreams.
Now American researchers think they are close to developing a kind of medicine, which will help people forget bad memories. The medicine is designed to be taken soon after a scary experience. They hope it might cut down, or possibly clean up, the effect ( 影 響 ) of painful memories. In November, experts tested a drug on people in the US and France. The drug stops the body releasing chemicals(釋放化學(xué)物質(zhì))that make memories remain in the brain. So far the research has suggested that only the effects of memories in mind may be cut down, not that the memories are cleaned up.
The research has caused a great deal of argument. Some think it is a bad idea, while others support it.
Supporters say it could lead to a kind of medicine that prevent or treat soldiers’ troubling memories after war. They say that there are many people who suffer from terrible memories.
“Some memories can destroy people’s lives. They come back to you when you don’t want to have them in a daydream or awful dreams at night. They usually come with very painful feelings,” said Roger Pitman, a professor at Harvard Medical School. “This could cut down lots of that suffering.”
But those who are against the research say changing memories is very dangerous because memories make us different from others. They also help us all avoid the mistakes of the past.
“All of us can think of bad events in our lives that were terrible at the time but make us who we are. I’m not sure if I want to forget those feelings.” said Rebecca Dresser, a medical scientist.

People can't see you when you're speaking on the phone, but they can hear you. So, the way you speak is especially important. In fact, researchers have found that 80% of communication over the phone is through your tone of voice; and only 20% is from the words you use. Here are our top tips on how to speak over the phone.
1. Facial Expressions
Your facial expression can _______ your voice. For example, if you smile, your voice will sound warm and friendly; just the opposite, if you have an angry look on your face, it can make you sound unpleasant.
2. Volume
If you speak too loudly, you could sound angry. And if you speak too _______, it'll be difficult to hear you. So, speak loudly enough to be heard clearly, but not so loud that you're shouting.
3. Pace
The pace of your voice is how quickly you speak. And this can show how you feel. For example, an angry person might speak _______ than normal. Or a downhearted person might speak very slowly. Try speaking a little more slowly than normal. This will make you sound confident, and it'll make it easier for the other person to understand you.
4. Gestures
Gesturing can affect the tone of your voice. When you gesture, you bring more air into the lungs, which can make your voice sound warmer. Gestures are also useful to help you stress the right words or even find the words you _______.
5. Movement
If you're feeling nervous, stand up and move around. It will reduce the nervousness in your body and help your voice to sound more _______.
6. Pauses(停頓)
Using pauses every now and then can help you to slow down. Also, if you pause after giving some new information, it'll give the other person time to understand it.
