It was midday when I got the call that my grandfather was not well and he was quickly getting worse. My family did not know how long he would stay in the world. I knew I had to get to the hospital to tell him how much I loved him. As I drove to the hospital, I pictured him before I got to tell him how much he meant to me. Trying to fight back the tears, I wanted to stay calm when I saw him.
When I got to the hospital, I hurriedly looked for his hospital room. I found him in a semi-conscious state (半清醒狀態(tài)). On my knees, I said softly, “Hello, Grandpa.”
Still feeling shy, I decided not to leave his bedside without letting him know. While I asked about how he was, he told me, “I’ll be fine, Henry.” although we both knew that wasn't true. Then he asked me with a smile how I was doing.
Hearing what my grandpa said, I was much moved. I made the decision that I had to show my gratitude for him. As I found all the courage (勇氣) I had, I hold his hand tightly. I cried out, “Grandpa. I just want to let you know how much I love you. I hope you already know that yet I just want to make sure.” By this time, tears were rolling down my face. All those years of love that I had shut and not let him know, became free.
Smilingly, he said, “I know. Thank you for telling me that. All I have on this planet is my family and my love for them. If there is anything I could ask of you, I want you to be good to your family, your mother, your father, and your brother. That’s all I want of you.”
What I learned that day changed my whole life. From then on, I began telling people how much I love them, care for them, and respect them. I get in touch with, for example, my babysitter, my barber, to show my appreciation. I go down into the city once a week and serve pizza to the homeless. I wake up every morning and list everything I’m thankful to in my life.

One afternoon I toured an art museum while waiting for my husband to finish a business meeting. I was looking forward to a quiet view (觀察) of the art works.
A young couple viewing the paintings ahead of me chatted non-stop between themselves. I watched them a moment and knew the wife was doing all the talk. I admired the husband’s patience. I met with them several times. Each time I heard her words, I moved away quickly.
I was standing at the counter of the museum gift shop when the couple came near to the exit. Before they left, the man reached into his pocket and pulled out a white object. He extended (延長) it into a long stick and then tapped (輕敲) his way into the coatroom to get his wife’s jacket.
“He’s a brave man.” The clerk at the counter said, “Most of us would give up if we were blinded at such a young age. During his recovery he made a promise that his life wouldn’t change. So, as before, he and his wife come in whenever there’s a new art show.”
“But what does he get out of the art?” I asked, “He can’t see.”
“Can’t see? You’re wrong. He sees a lot. More than you or I do.” The clerk said, “His wife describes each painting so he can see it in his head.”
I learned something about patience, courage and love that day. I saw the patience of a young wife describing paintings to a person without sight and the courage of a husband who would not allow blindness to change his life. And I saw the love shared by two people as I watched this couple walk away hand in hand.
根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,判斷句子正(T)、誤(F)。(5分)

【小題3】We can infer (推斷) from the passage that the husband couldn’t stand his wife.
【小題4】 After hearing what the clerk had said, the writer was annoyed.
【小題5】The passage is mainly about courage of a blind man and the love between the couple.

Now you’ve finished three years of English study. There’s one way to demonstrate(展示) what you’ve learned-take a test!
Do you have any special methods you use to help you do better on a test? How well you do is often a matter of how well prepared you are. Here are some ways to make sure you’re at your best on test days.
Go to bed early. The night before a test is not the time to stay up watching TV. You want to be rested and wide-awake for test day.
Have a good breakfast. Test day isn’t a morning for donuts. Nor is it a time to starve(挨餓) yourself. Eat plenty of low-sugar, high-energy food to keep your brain and body working their best.
Be prepared. Make sure you have two pencils and anything else you were asked to bring.
Watch the numbers. Make sure that the number of the items(項目) on your answer sheet matches the number of the question.
Look over all the answer choices. Don’t assume(假定) that choice A is correct until you’ve checked the others. You may find a better one. And it is wrong to eliminate(排除) any choice that you can see at once. You’ll have a better chance of finding the right answer.
Check the clock. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to answer every question and go back and check your answers. Don’t spend too much time on any difficult question. Skip it and come back to it later.
Keep up with your schoolwork all year long. That’s how you get the skills you need for
taking test.
【小題1】 Is taking a test a way to demonstrate what you’ve learned?
【小題2】 How many ways are mentioned in this passage?
【小題3】 What should you take to prepare for a test?
【小題4】What do you do if you meet any difficult question?
【小題5】What’s the passage mainly about?

What’s the most important thing for you to have in your life? Somebody mentions hard-work, others suggest knowledge, love and luck. If you arrange(排列) the 26 English letters in order and use numbers to represent each of them, for example, 1 for a, 2 for b, 3 for c…26 for z, you can change an English word into a number. So hard-work becomes 8+1 +18 +4+23+15+18+11="98,meaning:98" is its mark .Knowledge :11+14 +14+23 +12+5+4+7 +5="96" ,love:12+15+22+5="54," and luck: 12+21+3+11="47," a small mark. None of these words can give one a full mark. What about money? It can’t , either. Then what else? Don’t be worried. You can always find an answer to a problem in your life, when you change your way of looking at things or doing things, or your attitude.Yes, attitude is the word. One windy spring day, I noticed young people having fun using the wind to fly their kites. Colorful creations of different shapes and sizes filled the skies like beautiful birds flying and dancing. As the strong winds blew against the kites, a string kept them in control.
Instead of blowing away with the wind, they rose against it to achieve great heights. They shook and pulled, but the restraining (控制的) string and the cumbersome (笨重的) tail kept them in control, facing upward and against the wind. As the kites struggled against the string, they seemed to say, “Let me go! Let me go! I want to be free!” They rose beautifully even when they fought the restriction of the string. Finally, one of the kites succeeded in breaking loose(松散的). “Free at last,” it seemed to say. “Free to fly with the wind.”
Yet freedom(自由) simply put it in the control of an unkind wind. It fell down to the ground and landed in a mass of weeds and string against a dead bush. “Free at last”, free to lie powerlessly in the dirt, to be blown helplessly along the ground, and to stop lifelessly against the first obstacle (障礙物).
How much like kites we sometimes are. The Heaven gives us adversity (逆境) and rules, rules to follow from which we can grow and get strength. Some of us break away from the rules so hard that we never reach the heights we might get to. We keep part of the rules and never rise high enough to get our tails off the ground.
Let us each rise to the great heights, knowing that some of the rules that we may be angry about are in fact the strong force that helps us achieve.
【小題1】Why does the writer write the first paragraph?

A.Because it was the first time that he had seen young people flying kites.
B.Because he wants to share his feelings in nature with the readers.
C.Because he wants to tell the readers how to make beautiful kites.
D.Because he wants to use readers’ similar life experience to understand the article better.
【小題2】By writing the second and third paragraphs, the writer seems to let the readers know__________.
A.a(chǎn)nyone who wants no restraints is sure to be a sad end
B.what a pity it is that one kite flew down to the ground
C.man with freedom can’t be like that kite which fell down
D.the unkind wind is the cause of the fallen kite’s failure
【小題3】What does the underlined word “restriction” in the second paragraph probably mean?
A.束縛 B.放縱 C.搖擺 D.牽引
【小題4】In the writer’s opinion, ____________.
A.without restrictions and rules we can make endless progress
B.kites are good examples to those who want to get freedom
C.restrictions are necessary for us human beings
D.we don’t need any freedom at all
