Bill Gates is a very important person in the computer industry. He has been chief officer of Microsoft Company for several years. He is also the richest person in the United States. How did he do it?
He learned a lot from his parents. While Bill was going to school, his father went to college, got a degree, and became a successful lawyer.    1     . His mother was a very busy teacher, but she also loved going to parties. From this, he learned something else: if you want to work hard and play hard, you have to make a schedule.
2     . While most of his friends were playing, Bill read all of the World Book Encyclopedia and finished it when he was 8 years old.    3     . He used to play a lot of sports — swimming, water-skiing, tennis. When Bill got older, he spent more and more time working and playing on a computer.
Before he was twenty, Bill developed the world’s first computer language for the personal computer.    4     . He thought that every home was going to have a computer, and every computer would need software — his software. He said, “ I’m going to make my first million dollars on software by the time I’m 25.” And he did!
A. Bill was very clever and confident
B. However Bill’s childhood was not all work
C. When Bill was young, he spent a lot of time alone
D. From this, Bill learned that you have to work hard if you want something
E. Once when he was thinking about the future, he realized something important

1.D  2.C  3.B  4.E

1.本文第二段第四行為if you want to work hard and play hard, you have to make a schedule.

THE KING’S SPEECH---OSCAR    WINNER
A lot of stories are about friendship and courage. They have been told in many different ways. It is just something that people need to be told from time to time that perhaps people would grow bored of it. Well, director Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech,a historical movie about the British royal family, won the Oscar on 27th, February, 2011. The movie tells about the true story of a King George VI and it also tells the story of a friendship between the king and his doctor. They find something special about the word “courage”.
Just as the name of the movie, the story was simple but moving. Maybe The King’s Speech is just an ordinary story, though it won the Oscar. Throughout the honored movies in Oscar’s these years, it’s not difficult to find out that they seldom follow a traditional Hollywood way. The traditional way of Hollywood means shiny actors, famous director, a lot of money, 3D technology or something else.
With the development of technology, our native movies prefer to follow the traditional Hollywood way. But the results were the decrease of the good comments(評(píng)論). What can we learn from that? The standard(標(biāo)準(zhǔn)) for a good movie is not how well- known the actor is, how famous the director is, or how eye-catching the usage of the special skills are, but the connotation(內(nèi)涵) or the theme the movie includes!
小題1:Is The King’s Speech about friendship and courage?
小題2: When did The King’s Speech win the Oscar?
小題3: What does the traditional way of Hollywood mean?
小題4:Which is more important to a good movie, famous actor or the theme the movie includes?
小題5: What is the passage mainly about?
