Mr. Clinton and his 13-year-old son Tony are basketball fans. Last October 10th was Tony’s birthday, so Mr. Clinton decided to drive ________ to New York for the first game of the World Series. They had no ticket but hoped to buy a ________ from scalpers.
It was a two hours’ ride. “How much do you want?”
“Just a present,” said the man. “Enjoy the game.”
Mr. Clinton wouldn’t ________, so the man explained, “I’m Jackson. Hans is my boss. He and his wife haven’t missed a World Series in 18 years. But he is ill and can’t watch the game this time. Then I saw you and I followed you for a while. You seemed very disappointed. You ________ me think of my dad and me when I was a child. I dreamed of going to a World Series game with my father. But my dream never came true.”
How do you suppose this made Mr. Clinton and his son feel? Here is what Mr. Clinton said, “This is the most ________ thing that ever happened to us. My boy and I must have turned to each other over 30 times and said, ‘I can’t believe this.’ We still never forget Jackson and Hans.”

Theatre began with the ancient Greeks. They used to have shows called "plays", which tell a story by people acting out what happened in it. They had big theatres which were outside, and you could have up to 17.000 people come and watch it. These outside theatres were round in shape, with stone seats going down to the centre, when they had the "stage". The Romans also built theatres, and there are several you can visit in England, Greece, Italy and Turkey.
Greek used to have a person to explain the story to the people who were watching, and the actors used to wear pictures on their faces, some with happy faces, some sad.
There were not any theatres in Europe in the Middle Ages, but groups of actors (or players, as they used to be called) travelled around the country putting on shows and singing songs in the towns and in large private houses. Many large houses from this time have a special area in it where the players would do their shows.
In England between 1558 and 1603, the ruler was Queen Elizabeth I. During this time, theatres would be built outside the city walls because some people thought they were not safe places to be and that people caused troubles there. They were usually round, and people would stand up to see the show. Rich people had seats to sit on. People used to eat and drink during the show. They used to shout out to the actors and sometimes throw food at them.
In Elizabethan times, a theatre group had 12 men and one writer in it. Women were not allowed to be in the show, so young boys used to wear dresses and play the female roles.
Theatre in London today is very popular, even if tickets are very expensive. Many American stars want to perform in London, and in the last few years Kevin Spacey, Nicole Kidman and Kathleen Turner have all acted in plays in London's theatres.

Building Your Business, Building Your People
What an exciting thing to do — developing a successful business! I’m reminded every day of some important ideas for progress. Here are some ideas to keep in mind that can make a significant difference in a team:
Understand your people
If I want my team to go and grow with me, I need to find out what excites them. What do they need in their work environment to improve their mental well-being? What are their fears and concerns, and how can I help them manage these fears and concerns? What are their values and goals?
Help people build self-confidence
During my early years in management, I realized the great power of expectations. As I found, people largely lived up to my expectation of them. So I learned that if I want to build my business through my people, I have to build their own belief in their ability to achieve. This belief must be educated. If I want them to achieve more, I must help them build their trust in themselves first.
Develop people’s recognition (認(rèn)可)
Whenever I speak and give advice to people, they tell me they don’t get enough recognition. Sad, isn’t it? But how much recognition do they give to others? In fact, recognition could be developed by praising and appreciating each other in a team. Encourage everyone in your team to recognize achievements in others. Teach your team to ask for the opinions of others if they’re not receiving recognition.
Encourage people to be creative
We have created our life just the way we choose to have it, or at least the way we’ve settled for it. Those who have been told they are creative will probably use their creativity bravely. Others who haven’t had their creativity encouraged will mostly believe they are uncreative. I suggest you encourage your people to be creative and brave in trying out new ideas.
1.How many pieces of advice does the writer give to build your business?
2.What do you need to do if you want your team to go and grow with you?
3.Is it important to help people build self-confidence in your business?
4.How did the writer develop his people’s recognition in the team?
5.What can we learn from the writer according to his experience?
1.Four. 2.I need to find out what excites my people. 3.Yes. / Yes, it is. 4.By praising and appreciating them. 5.If you want to be successful in your business, you must build your people. ...查看答案和解析>>
