Computer games are very popular with many teenagers. The games can be good entertainment (娛樂(lè)) in their spare time. Some teachers think it is a good idea to use the same games to teach teenagers in school too.

They think that games can make children work harder. Also, if students are interested in the games, they will learn more. They say students are better at listening and thinking when they enjoy a lesson. They also think that answers are more thoughtful and work is neater when games are used.

Geography has been taught this way in some schools. A game is played by children and maps are drawn of the game “World”. The images help the students “see” the world they are mapping. Some teachers also use games to help students start to write. They talk about people or places in the game. They write stories about what happens in the game “World”.

Other teachers do not think that games are helpful in school. They say students are thinking about the game and not their work. They say the students have an excuse to play. They also think that the game keeps students busy, but they are not always learning.

Teachers have different answers to this question. Computer games are helpful for some teachers. They are unhelpful for others. No research has been done into the effects (影響) on students’ grades. We have to use our own thoughts to decide. Do you think that computer games should be used in your classroom? How helpful would they be?

Should computer games be used in the classroom?

Many people like to travel by plane, but I don’t like it because an airport is usually far from the city. You have to get there early and wait for hours for the plane to take off and it is often late. you can’t open the window. You can’t choose the food. Planes are fast, but they still take hours to get out of the airport and into the city.

When did you last say “I love you” to your father? If you can’t remember, then you can get the chance this Father’s Day on June 19.

Generally compared to(與……相比) a mother’s gentle love, a father represents qualities such as independence(獨(dú)立), confidence, courage and adventure(冒險(xiǎn)).

Also, caring fathers help their children get along with others. Fathers can lead their children into their social circle(社交圈). They can also teach them how to behave and control their feelings.

For example, Microsoft founder Bill Gates was quiet and didn’t like to talk with others when he was a little kid. So his father often held family parties and let Bill play games with family members.(83) “My ability of leading and cooperating(合作) became better through games.” Gates once said in an interview with US Fortune magazine.

US actor Will Smith said that his father taught him important lessons through small things. His father once planned to tear(拆) down a wall of their shop and rebuild it. But little Will thought it was impossible. After a year and a half, they did it. “You didn’t try to build a wall. You are going to lay a brick every day. And soon you have a wall,” he said on TV show.

(84)“One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters”, British poet George Herbert once said. Do you agree?

A.根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容簡(jiǎn)要回答問(wèn)題。
