聘     任
西奧先生身材修長,面龐消瘦,兩鬢斑白.他生性溫和,平日沉默寡言.研究學術(shù)問題,他精力充沛,記憶力驚人,而對日常生活的瑣碎小事,卻不甚了了.
坎福特大學需要聘任一名工作人員，上百人申請這個空缺位置，西奧也遞上了申請書。最后只有西奧等15人獲得面試的機會，坎福特大學地處一個小鎮(zhèn)上，周圍只有一家旅館，由于住客驟增，單人房間只好兩人同住。和西奧同住的一位年輕人，叫亞當斯，足足比西奧年輕20歲，亞當斯自信心很強，且有一副洪亮的嗓音，旅客里時常可以聽到他朗朗的笑聲。顯而易見，這是一個聰明伶俐的人。
