You either have it, or you don't—a sense of direction. But why is it that some people could find their way across the Sahara without a map while others can lose themselves in the next street?
Scientists say we're all born with a sense of direction, but it is not properly understood how it works. One theory(理論) is that people with a good sense of direction have simply worked harder at developing it. Research being carried out at Liverpool University supports this idea and suggests that if we don't use it, we lose it.
“Children as young as seven have the ability to find their way around,” says Jim Martland, research director of the project. “However, if they are not allowed out alone or are taken everywhere by car, they never develop the skills.”
Jim Martland also emphasizes that young people should be taught certain skills to improve their sense of direction. He makes the following suggestions:
If you are using a map, turn it to the way you are facing.
If you leave your bike in a strange place, put it near something like a big stone or a tree—something easy to recognize(辯認(rèn)). Note landmarks(地標(biāo)) on the route as you go away from your bike. When you return, go back along the same route.
The simple way of finding your direction by using lines such as streets in a town, streams, or wells in the countryside to guide you. Count your steps so that you know how far you have gone and note any landmarks such as tall buildings or hills which can help to find out where you are.
Now you will never get lost again!

【題目】閱讀回答問題。
As a student, I was most afraid to answer questions in class, and I found that the students around were just like me. At the beginning of each class, when the teacher asked a question, I always lowered my head because I was afraid the teacher saw me.
One day, in a foreign language class, Mr. Black gave us a lesson. He wanted us to be active in class, so he asked us some questions, but no one answered. “Let me tell you a story first,” he said.
“When I came to the United States to study, the university often invited famous people to make speeches. Before the beginning of every speech, I found an interesting thing. The students around me always took a cardboard folded(折疊的) in half, wrote their names in bold(黑體) with the most eye-catching(引人注目的) color, and then placed the cardboard on the seat. So when the speaker needed the answers from the students, he could see it and call a listener's name directly.”
“I couldn't understand that. My classmate told me the speakers were all top people, who meant chances. When your answer was to his surprise, it meant he might give you more chances. In fact, I really saw a few students got great chances because of that.”
After listening to the story, I understood that the chance will not find you itself. You must show yourself all the time so that you can find a chance on the card.

【題目】根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容判斷正誤。
I am Jay from Sunshine Middle School. Recently, we did a survey about who we prefer to share worries with. We got different answers. According to the chart, about 71% of the students would like to share their worries with their classmates and friends . It is mainly because they believe that if people are at the same age, they are easy to communicate and understand each other better.
About 22% of the students said they would like to share worries with their teachers and parents. According to them, adults are rich in experience, and that they can deal with their problems easily. The rest prefer to keep worries to themselves. As for them, it's a struggle to get along well with others, some of them said they didn't want to trust anyone.
As far as I am concerned, I am willing to share worries with my best friends because they're always kind and understanding. However, if I meet with some serious problems, I'll be likely to ask my parents and teachers for help, who, I believe, have more experience to give me valuable advice.
(1)The survey is about who students prefer to share worries with.
(2)Most students would like to share worries with their classmates and friends.
(3)Some students would like to share worries with their teachers and parents because they are easy to communicate.
