Dear parents,
We are happy to send you the list of the books for the 2019 Summer Reading Program. All the students in our school will take part in this program.
This year, students will be required to read one book from the list. After reading the book, students will have to write an article about it.
The books for this year’s summer reading program are:
?Grade 6: The Moon and I by Betsy Byars
The writer describes her wonderful trip with a black snake.
?Grade 7: My Dog Skip by Willie Morris
A story about a boy and his dog growing up in the countryside.
?Grade 8: Mama's Girl by Veronica Chambers
The true life story of Veronica Chambers trying to connect with her mother.
?Grade 9: My Secret Diary by Jacqueline Wilson
A very interesting and exciting story about Jacqueline Wilson's teenage years.
We believe that this program is helpful for our students to develop a lifelong interest in reading. We hope that your child will read these books. Thanks for your help with the Summer Reading Program.

On July 23nd, 1993,Wang Jiaping lost his legs in an airplane crash. Wang was only 12 years old then.
“ I felt I was the unluckiest person in the world.” Wang said . "When I saw students with their schoolbags on their backs, the sound of my wheelchair made me sad."
Wang's mother took him to a special hospital in Beijing. She looked after him in the daytime and worked at night to make money. But after two years, his mother was so tired that she herself became a hospital patient one day.
One morning she woke up and saw her son holding breakfast for her. Wang's trip to the food was the first time to go outside the hospital in two years. The five-minute walk took him 30 minutes. But he finally made an important decision. " I had to learn to do things by myself." he said.
For the next few years, Wang taught himself all the middle school subjects in the hospital, and he even won a chance to study in a college. Wang learned to dive, go climbing and skiing. He even won two gold metals for skiing in an international skiing competition.
