In my math class, Mr. Black drew a man standing in the middle of a circle. To make it more interesting, he drew things like a house a car and a few friends inside the circle.
He asked us, “Can anyone tell me what this is?” Jack said, “The world?” Mr. Black said, “That’s close. This is your Comfort Zone (舒適區(qū)域). Inside your circle you have all the things that are important to you—your home, your family, your friends, and your job. People feel that inside this circle they are safe from any danger. Can anyone tell me what happens when you step out of this circle?”
Mr. Black then drew an arrow (箭頭) pointing from the man to the outside of the circle. He went on saying, “When you leave your Comfort Zone, you will face the world that you are not comfortable with. The result is that you will learn something that you do not know and gain (獲得) more than what you have.” He then drew a bigger circle around the first circle, and added a few new things like more friends, etc, into it.
The story tells us that if you stay inside your Comfort Zone, you will never be able to learn more. When you go out of your Comfort Zone, perhaps you will be afraid, challenge (挑戰(zhàn)) your mind and grow to be stronger, and so become a better person.
