Good morning, boys and girls. Today I’ll give you a talk about going online.

We know that there are too many Net bars(網(wǎng)吧) around us. The Internet makes our lives interesting. Many of us like going online very much because we can learn how to use the computer. We can learn English and read some newspapers and magazines to know more information around us. It can make us clever in playing computer games. Also when we send e-mails to our friends, they can get them right away. It can help us keep in touch with people from all over the world.

But some students spend too much time in playing computer games and some stay in the Net bars all day and all night. It takes them too much time to chat online so they do worse in their lessons and they don’t study well any more. I think we mustn’t get online when it is time for us to study. We can do it in summer or winter holidays. I think we should get online with our teachers or parents.

At the same time, if we have lots of free time, we can do some activities after school. We usually have activities from 4:50 to 5:50 in the afternoon. We can play basketball or football. We also have some interest groups in school, such as drawing, singing and dancing. We can go to the English corner on Monday afternoon. I hope we can spend more time on our subjects or on such activities that we can learn a lot from and less time on the Internet.

That’s all! Thank you.

判斷正誤 閱讀下面的材料,判斷下列句子是否符合短文內(nèi)容。符合的寫“T”,不符合的寫“F”。(T=True,F(xiàn)=False)

Can animals be made to work for us? Some scientists think that one day animals may be taught to do a number of simple jobs. They spent that in a film or on TV. We may see elephants, monkeys, dogs, bears, or other animals doing a lot of things. If you watch carefully, you may find that those animals are given something to eat in return for doing them. The scientists say that many different animals may be taught to do a number of simple jobs if they get something to eat.

Of course, as we know, dogs can be used to guard a house, and elephants can be used to do some heavy jobs .And we can also teach animals to work in factories. Apes(猿猴),for example have been used in America to help make cars and scientists believe that these monkeys may one day get in crops and even drive trains.

1.Animals must work for us one day.

2.Animals are given something to eat in return for doing things.

3.Dogs can be used to do some heavy jobs.

4.The scientists think that animals mustn’t be taught to do simple jobs if they don’t get something to eat.

5.The scientists believe that the monkeys can drive trains one day.

You either have it, or you don’t-a sense of direction. But why is it that some people could find their way across the Sahara without a map while others can lose themselves in the next street?

Scientists say we’re all born with a sense of direction, but it is not properly understood how it works. One theory(推測) is that people with a good sense of direction have simply worked harder at developing it. Research being carried out at Liverpool University supports this idea and suggests that if we don’t use it, we lose it.

“Children as young as seven have the ability to find their way around,” says Jim Martland, research director of the project. “However, if they are not allowed out alone or are taken everywhere by car, they never develop the skills.”

Jim Martland also emphasizes(強調(diào)) that(1)年輕人應該被教會必要技能提高自己的方向感. He makes the following suggestions:

If you are using a map, turn it so that it relates to the way you are facing.

(2)If you leave your bike in a strange place, put it near something like a big stone or a tree ----something easy to recognize. Note landmarks on the route as you go away from your bike. When you return, go back along the same route.

Simplify(簡化) the way for finding your direction. Using lines such as streets in a town, streams, or wells in the countryside to guide you. Count your steps so that you know how far you have gone, and note any landmarks such as tower blocks or hills which can help to find out where you are.

Now you will never get lost again!

1.How old are the children when they have the ability to find the way around.

_____________________________________________________________

2.Did people understand how a sense of direction works?

_____________________________________________________________

3.How many simple ways for finding direction are mentioned in the last second paragraph?

4.將句(1)譯成英文。

______________________________________________________________

5.將句(2)譯成中文。

Many people think the dinosaurs(恐龍) were the biggest animals that ever lived. They are wrong. The world’s biggest animal is still living and it lives in the ocean(海洋). It is the blue whale(鯨魚). Blue whales can be as long as 30 meters and weigh as much as 1,000 kilos. The largest dinosaurs weighed only 500 kilos.

The whale is not only the world’s biggest animal; it is also one of the cleverest. We know that whales can talk with each other, but we do not know what they are saying. Maybe one day we will learn how to talk with whales, and then they will be able to tell us about themselves.

Whales live in the ocean, but they don’t lay eggs like fish do. They are mammals(哺乳動物). They give birth to babies and have milk inside their own bodies to feed them. Humans are also mammals.

Sadly, there are not many kinds of whales left. People have killed them for food and other things for a long time. Now there are laws to stop people killing most kinds of whales. So maybe there will be more of them in years to come.

1.Which picture show the correct size of the largest whale?

2.The underlined word “l(fā)ay” in the Paragraph 3 means .

A. 放置 B. 躺下 C. 打賭 D. 產(chǎn)卵

3.There are not many kinds of whales left because .

A. they don’t lay eggs

B. people have killed them

C. they live in the ocean

D. there are laws against them

4.The article mainly talks about .

A. the world’s biggest animal

B. lots of stories about whales

C. laws to stop people killing whales

D. the differences between dinosaurs and whales
