Extreme (極) hot weather is common in many parts of the world. Although (盡管) hot weather just makes most people feel hot,it can cause serious health problems,even death.

   Floods,storms and other natural events kill thousands of people every year. So does extreme heat. Experts say heat may be nature's most dangerous killer.

   Health experts say that since 1900,very hot weather has killed more people in America than any other natural event. In 1995,more than 600 people died in heat wave in Chicago. In India,extreme heat has killed thousands of people during recent years. Temperatures reached almost fifty degrees in some areas.

   Doctors say people can do many things to protect themselves from the dangers of extreme heat. Stay out of the sun,if possible. Drink lots of cool water. Make sure you wear loose and light-coloured clothes. Wear a hat when in the sun. Also,cook foods during cooler times of the day.
